  • Home cooked meals are served at the Malealea Lodge.
  • Linen is supplied in all rooms except the Forest Huts.
  • There is a bar and a shop on site that sells basic food supplies.
  • PLEASE BRING TORCHES OR FLASHLIGHTS. We use a generator for electricity and lights are on only from 6.00pm - 10.00pm.
  • We have two basic self-catering, backpacker-type communal kitchens.

Day rides

Overnight treks

R370pp per day + R80pp for village huts.

Tours are tailor-made to meet your requirements. All tours are flexible and departure can be arranged at a moments notice, except at Christmas, Easter and on long weekends.

Day hike rates

R15pp per hour, plus R5pp for the School Visit and plus R8pp for the Museum Visit. The guides, school and museum are paid from the fees.
The balance of the income from the hiking trails is donated to the Malealea Development Trust, which has funded 3 classrooms, a pre-primary School, a handicraft centre and various small business projects. The next project is a community hall at Malealea.

Tips

Giving tips are optional. We are always asked about tips for pony trek guides. We suggested you give R30.00 per day per group. This is entirely optional, as the horses are hired from the horse owners. Old clothes are always appreciated as a tip.
